I'm finally writing again!

It's been a long time since I last wrote anything. If I remember correctly, the third year of high school was the last time I wrote a long article. That was several years ago.

Why did I stop? Because writing can be incredibly boring.

I have to sit for hours just trying to find the right words for the topic I'm writing about. On top of that, I have to think about the good structure, so readers don't end up thinking the writer is completely a retard person. And most importantly, I don't want the BACKSPACE key on my laptop to wear out.

So... why did I decide to start writing again?

Recently, Instagram changed something with its algorithm. For some reason, my feed is no longer filled with the content I actually want to watch. Instead, it's packed with whatever topic happens to be trending at the moment.

At first, I didn't think it was a problem. I figured it might actually be good to stay updated with what's happening around the world. But after a while, the trending topics just kept piling up.

When I'm writing this, Indonesia is flooded with corruption-related news, while international headlines are busy arguing about the referee's decisions in the Argentina vs. Egypt match. Every time I open Instagram, those stories show up again and again.

The algorithm gets even worse because every content creator starts talking about the same thing. Some make parodies, some share opinions, and others simply jump on the trend. It's just people riding the wave.

The result?

My feed is full of content that isn't really relevant to me anymore, while the stuff I actually want to see becomes surprisingly rare. I even tried counting once, I had to scroll more than five posts before finding something I genuinely wanted to watch.

Another side effect is feeling mentally overwhelmed. Some people call this doomscrolling.

Personally, I don't think scrolling social media is the problem. I enjoy the little dopamine hit from watching funny memes or random videos just like everyone else. The real problem starts when most of what I'm consuming isn't something I actually chose to consume. That made me wonder if there was a better way to avoid feeling overwhelmed.

Then, out of nowhere, I came across a tweet on Twitter. I honestly can't remember the exact wording anymore—maybe I'll find it later and update this post.

But the main idea was something like this:

Nowadays, we actually need to spend more time doing boring things.

Hmm... That sounded surprisingly interesting. Then I remembered something. I used to do one very boring activity.

Writing.

So... that's basically why I'm writing again.

(It's kind of funny that I wrote this entire post just to explain why I'm writing again.)

So, what am I going to write about? Honestly, I have no idea yet.

For now, I'll probably just write about things that are close to my daily life.

  • Random thoughts and reflections. I enjoy thinking about simple things and trying to find meaning in them.
  • Coding and programming. I studied Computer Science, I still write code almost every day, and I'll probably share technical stuff from time to time.
  • Markets and investing. I've been getting really interested in this topic lately. I might write about what I'm learning or thinking from time to time. Although this topic is a bit different, I still need to figure out where to draw the line between personal thoughts and professional responsibility.

One last thing.

This website will probably be written entirely in English. The reason is pretty simple.

My English isn't great, and I want to get better at it. I think writing consistently in English is one of the best ways to improve.

So... let's see how it goes. Anyway, that's it for now. I honestly have no idea where this writing journey will take me.

Maybe I'm doing the right thing. Maybe I'm not. We'll find out.

am i right? idk.
